India win splendidly over Australia. The victory is being considered as one of the best Test victories ever. Laxman’s record against the team from Down Under is always a special but today's innings recalled the nine year-old Test Match in Eden Gardens.
The Indian skipper M.S. Dhoni gave the first over to Zaheer Khan who got driven over the fine-leg for a boundary from Watson. Australia stood at 10/0at the end of the 1st over.
After winning the game, the Indian captain MS Dhoni said, “This is one of the best matches I’ve played, this game was full of emotions.”
The Indian pacers along with some help from the spinners rattled the Aussies breaking the kangaroo backbone as they fell for a mere 192 in their second innings. Set with a target of 216, India’s reply, however, wasn’t strong as Gautam Gambhir fell for naught wrapped in the pads by a vicious delivery from Ben Hilfenhaus.
